WELCOME TO
THE SHAME SHELF!

The Shame Shelf started in February 2023 as a book club between two best friends who share the same love for reading and writing. The name was initially a mispronunciation of the words 'same shelf', but realising it suited their personalities and usual choice of genres, the two decided to use it for their book club and, a year later, for their writing blog.

Here, you will find monthly book reviews, fun book recommendations, and useful writing tips for the aspiring authors amongst you. The Shame Shelf will read the kinds of books you're too embarrassed to buy, provide you with a reading list you haven't seen before, and hopefully make you chuckle (or laugh out loud) along the way.

Kayleigh A has spent her whole life as a bookworm, with her head usually buried in a work of fiction or a personal development book. Her true love is fantasy, with some of her favourite reads being Eragon, Lord of the Rings, and, of course, Harry Potter. Her love of fantasy can also be seen in her own works, which often involve magic, mystery and betrayal, along with a sprinkling of romance. Although previously her writing was for her own enjoyment, she is currently working on publishing her debut novel, Soulhunters. The novel follows the story of Alina as she battles with her inner darkness and powers that are spiralling out of control, all whilst being hunted for her soul. Kayleigh can also be found travelling around the world, practicing yoga or spending time with her family and friends.

  • Cradle Series by Will Wight

  • Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
